Striped Bass and Amendment 7 of the Interstate Marine Fishery Plan: We Won (for now)
Seventeen years after the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission last updated its Interstate Fishery Management Plan, it has finalized Amendment 7 to this all-important document, with enormous implications for Atlantic fisheries - and in particular, the health of the striped bass stock. Tony Friedrich from the American Saltwater Guides Association breaks down Amendment 7, and characterizes the policy update largely as a major win for anglers and conservationists. But, as always, there remain important open issues that require the community’s continued vigilance and advocacy.
